ANOTHER TAG, JESSICA? Have you lost your marbles? In my defense, this was supposed to come before yesterday's Crazy About Lipstick tag. I've been out of the YouTube sphere for a while now ... almost a month with only one video. So I thought the best way to really jump back into my videos is a tag video about my most favorite-est season in the entire world! I was tagged by Sandra from SBeauty101 (The Puzzle of Sandra's Life here on blogger) to do the 'Fall In Love' tag, which is the cutest play on words that I ever did see. It looked like heaps of fun (tags usually are, haha) and my love for the autumn season is clearly apparent in this video. Oh, and it's officially October and what I perfect way to welcome a new month that is almost the epitome of Fall! Sit back, relax, grab some apple cider, and I hope you enjoy! Crazy About Lipstick

'ello, everyone! We're going to kick the week off with a good ol' fashioned tag. I haven't done a blog post tag in a very long while so this should be fun! I was tagged by the ever so sweet Daphne from the blog Peanut Butter and Chocolate Life (does that blog name not make you crave a Reese's cup?!) to do the Crazy About Lipstick tag. This tag couldn't be more appropriate for me because lipstick was the first makeup item I ever bought and it'll probably be the last. Some people go cuckoo for blushes, I go bananas for lipsticks of every shade and color! So here we go:

1. How many lipsticks do you own?

Oh man, do I have to go count?! Okay, one second ... *gulp* 35. That's not counting any of my lipglosses (which I don't have much of) but YIKES. Although, I am a girl who likes my lipstick. Too bad I only have one pair of lips!

2. What was your first lipstick?

My first lipstick was TopShop's Rio Rio. It's a bright tomato-y red which basically shaped my obsession with bright lipsticks. I think my best friend may have even bought it for me when we were out!

3. What is your most worn lipstick?

Hands down, MAC's Venus, which makes sense since it's my MLBB (my-lips-but-better) lipstick. It came out with MAC's Heavenly Creatures collection last year. It's the only one that's being worn down to it's nubbiest. I'd be happy about that because I've never finished a lipstick but UGH, if it runs out I won't be able to buy it again D:

4. What is your favorite brand of lipstick?

MAC. You can turn this post into a drinking game with the amount of times I've said MAC. It's true though. I love the range of colors and finishes they have. I can almost always find a formula and color combo that I love and works well on me. Plus, I'm a collector (re: complete sucker) for their LE lipstick packages.

5. What is your favorite finish?

MAC's (*take a shot*) Lustre finishes. It's not a purposeful favorite- those are just the ones I gravitate towards ALL. THE. TIME. I don't like anything super glossy or super duper matte. So any finish that leaves a small sheen, is somewhat hydrating, and glides on smooth is a finish I'm a fan of!

6. What is the last lip product you bought?

I can't remember if the last lip product I bought was MAC's Creme Cup or Revlon's Juicy Papaya Lip Butter. It was one of those and the fact that I can't remember means it's been a while, which is good news for my wallet, haha!

7. How many lip products (everything) do you currently have in your handbag?

None at the moment. Are you shocked? Haha. I usually put the lipstick I'm wearing that day into my handbag along with a lip balm of some sort, but at the end of the day I always take them out and put them in their respected compartments. I don't like keeping them in my bag for some reason when I don't need them. 

8. What lip product do you use to rock a red lip?

A super-fan-dabby-dosey red lipstick? Also, lip liner. Lip liner is SUCH a necessity for me with a red lip. It makes the lipstick last longer, go on neater, and prevent it from bleeding. Also, a good lip balm before hand so everything can apply smoother.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?

I store them in this. Best possible way to store and organize lipsticks. Each one gets it's own individual compartment and it looks so noice!

10. What lip products are you currently lusting after?

ALL OF THEM? What? Too much? Haha. As I'm typing this I'm completely craving MAC's (*take a shot*) RiRi Woo lipstick. It's a gorgeous red lipstick (love those) AND it's in a super amazing LE packaging. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds to collect it! Aside from that, nothing has completely tickled my fancy. I've been good on my spending ban (sort of ;) )

My Makeup & Me

Today I've got a fun tag video in store for you all - the "My Makeup & Me Tag" I was tagged by the wonderfully charming Cassie who is ThriftThick on YouTube. If you have know idea who I am talking about then you are seriously missing out. She is just so relatable and hysterically funny - seriously ... she cracked open a bottle of Corona in the middle of one of her videos and I lost it! This tag was originally created by Jen from Jenluvsreviews. You might remember her as the one who was hosting the Best in Beauty competition. She created this tag for the 6th round of the contest but that doesn't mean the tag has to stop there! This is the first video I've done that I've actually been tagged to do. It was a glorious feeling! I was so happy to get to do this tag and I tagged some lovely ol' Best In Beauty veterans ;) I talk about how I got into beauty, why I started my YouTube channel, and basically what I want to get out of creating these videos for you all! TAG | Confessions of a Blogger

Happy Monday! Actually right now it's Sunday night and I'm watching the Oscars. I love Seth Macfarlane and this is probably my favorite awards show! Can I just mention how cute Daniel Radcliffe looked dancing WITH Joseph Gordon-Levitt, mmm, mmm! Also, hopefully by the time this post goes live I'll be keeping a promise to myself and at the gym! When did you start your blog?

I started this blog in April of 2012. The 19th to be exact and precise!

Have you had any past online presence before (Other blog, YouTube)?

I had a tumblr, if that counts? I used to actually have a tumblr blog dedicated to all things LUSH. It was quite good, I posted reviews and pictures but some one just kept reporting me and Tumblr took it down. It made me sad): I tried restarting it but then it got deleted again.

Why did you start a blog?

I really got into make up late 2011/early 2012 which meant I was also getting into beauty videos. I loved watching these videos and I really wanted to make my own. My friend Julia and I were going to make a joint beauty channel on YouTube but she was afraid she wouldn't have time to commit to it. I still wanted to do it but jumping into YouTube scared me so I thought a blog would be better instead. I had all this make up that was being unplayed with so I thought a blog would help force me to be creative, allow me to learn from other blogs, and share the things I love and things I've learned! I used to actually be called 'Faux Guru' but a few weeks in I didn't really like it and it wasn't me at all so I changed it to The Mod Mermaid! :)

When did you become serious about starting a blog?

I've always been serious about blogging. It was always fun for me to take pictures, decorate my blog, and write up my thoughts. I've always tried to post often and high quality posts that you guys would find interesting! Sometimes I hit a road block and that doesn't happen, but this happens to even the best bloggers!

What was your first post?

LOL, oh my it was a very serious introduction to this blog. So unlike me. This blog originally started on Tumblr so I was fitting into "that" crowd, haha. I'll link it here so you guys can go have a chuckle -> here. It was an introduction and essentially a big disclaimer stating that I am no expert, nor was I claiming to be one!

What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?

I think my biggest challenge with blogging is finding the time to post and coming up with posts that you guys will want to read! I also struggle with personal posts. I want to include some now and then but never know what to write about, haha!

Where do you see your blog in one year?

I (hopefully) will still be blogging! The one thing I don't want to see is this blog abandoned.

What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?

The comments! I love when my readers comment on my blog posts because it means someone took the time to read your post, then they took extra time to let you know what they thought; it's very encouraging! Also, I can't deny that every new reader that takes the time to join this little undersea family (haha, WOT?!) is rewarding beyond belief!

What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?

We tell ourselves this a lot: "don't compare yourself to other blogs" but I am so guilty of doing this. I find myself, just subconsciously, comparing my blog to other blogs and then I get in this mood of "why bother with my blog when their's is so much better?" It's awful but I just slap myself some sense and remind myself that my blog is loved too :)

What's your lasting inspiration or motivation?

All the blogs I love to read inspire me. It's so cliche and over said but it's true. I get fresh ideas from reading everyone's blogs!

50 Random Facts About Me

I'm doing it guys, jumping on the bandwagon! This tag has been going around the blogosphere and on YouTube and it's been my absolute favorite to read. Everyone's answers and 50 "facts" are completely different so it makes reading it each time something new and I've really enjoyed it. It's a lot harder than it looks coming up with 50 facts (random or not!). It's taken me two weeks and around two drafts (yes, I had drafts, haha) So here they are and I hope you guys enjoy!

The Sister Tag | Meet Vicky!

Happy Tuesday everyone! This was a requested video ... and by requested I mean my sister, Vicky, begged me to film this with her! I decided to oblige and it ended up being really fun, if not a little nerve wracking for the both of us in the begining! We answer some random questions and share some funny stories with you all. My sister and I are really cuckoo bananas and always act like we're the toddlers on Toddlers & Tiaras hyped up on sugar! We're three years apart but she's a little more mature for her age and I'm a tad immature so we meet nicely in the middle! Suffice to say we don't always get along, but when we do it's a fun time! I'd love if you lovelies watched it. I promise, even thought the video is 12 minutes long, we were being entertaining!

Tag: Would You Rather - Beauty + Quick Update!

Hello all! Long time no speak! Sorry to just drop from the blogging world for these few days. I haven't been feeling quite well and never had the proper opportunity to post. I'm glad I got the giveaway post up before all of this though! (thank goodness for the queue!) If you're following this blog and haven't entered yet, be sure to do so here! I'm feeling a lot better now and will be posting in full swing! I thought I'd ease back in (my gosh I make it sounds like I've been gone for ages) with a Beauty Tag I found on AnanSays | Beauty & Lifestyle Blog. She didn't tag me but I still thought it would be fun to do! Before I get started I just thought I'd share this photo I found on tumblr. Any lipstick lover will agree. Our little lippies are so spoiled! Anywho, haha, on to the tag!

1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up, or nice hair and no make-up?

Nice hair and no make up. Only for the simple fact that my hair never looks nice and it would just be a lovely change!

2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

Ah! Eyelashes! Most definitely! Eyelashes would be a lot less noticeable ... I think.

3. Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?

Oh gosh. Hmm ... I'm really getting into M.A.C. lately but I think I'll have to go with Sephora. There is just way more to choose from there!

4. Would you rather wear the lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?

HA! This question is brilliant. Funny story. I was watching Toddlers & Tiaras the other night and one of the little girls was actually rocking the lipgloss/liner look and I just thought 'It's bad enough you're putting them through this pageant but you do THAT to them as well?!' Haha, I thought it was hilarious. 80's perm for sure!

5. Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?

Overdone blush. Hands down.

6. Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?

Biker shorts! They'd make my bum look all nice and bubbly.

7. Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?

Really weird tan lines that can't be covered. Unless you live where I live, you cannot understand my decision to look like a Cheetah instead of an oompa loompa.

8. Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?

Ahhhh. That's a tough one. Hair color, I guess? Color I can deal with it, but having to deal with a n unruly haircut can be awful!

9. Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?

Twitter. YouTube is perhaps 10x more entertaining!

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?

GAH. What is this question!? No wonder it was left for less. Am I allowed to pass? Haha. Ehm, uh, my gosh I'm sitting here and I cannot even decide. Mascara. Only because I cannot apply blush without a stinkin' brush ):
