OOTY: In the Moment

OOTY. Stands for Outfit of the Yesterday. Clever, I know. I meant to put this up last night but sort of got side tracked! This is a picture of me in my Sweet 16 dress that I bought/wore 3 years ago. My younger sister's Sweet 16 is fast approaching which means LOTS and LOTS of dress shopping ... but for her. We ordered a bunch of dresses online for her to try on and while she was doing so I got really nostalgic and ran to put on my dress.

I am in love with this dress; have been since I first put it on. I got it at a Betsey Johnson boutique in a Nordstrom that is sadly no longer there. I was so surprised that I still fit into it. More comfortably than before, actually! The skirt is my favorite part! It's sparkled with sequins that shimmer so prettily when you walk. It was one of those 'the one' dresses. I wasn't settling for it and I knew I could have nothing else.

The shoes are Via Spiga, I think. Just in case you're wondering. Neither one of these are sold any more unfortunately, but I thought I'd share as I was feeling incredibly nostalgic.

Review: M.A.C. Soft & Gentle

Highlights, and bronzers are products that have not been so high on my list of make-up must haves. I didn't understand why you would want a shinier face and orange looking skin. Knowledge is definitely a friend. As I began to read more blogs and watch more beauty related videos I discovered that these products could actually enhance your look and dimension!

M.A.C. Soft and Gentle is a MSF (Mineralize Skin Finish). It's $29 for 0.35 oz. Don't ask what exactly that is because I have no idea. Browsing through blogs I can only infer that they can be used as blush, highlighters, and even setting powders.

After my fail trial with Benefit's Watts Up I knew I wouldn't be looking for a cream highlighter anytime soon. Surprising enough, I hadn't seen too may reviews on Soft & Gentle (most likely cause I didn't really review it!) When I saw this at the M.A.C. counter I knew I couldn't leave without it. I rarely do that, surprisingly enough. I will usually at least look up ONE or TWO reviews about a product but not with this one.

Soft & Gentle is a gorgeous peachy, champagne, shimmering high lighter. When applied across the cheekbones it gives off a natural looking highlight. It brightens up the entire face and I swear it makes me look younger than I already do. I know you can use this as an all-over the face brightener or as sort of a peachy tint to your face but I can see myself only using this on my cheekbones. Which I don't mind! For the amount I paid I want this to last me a loooong time.

This is a product I can see myself enjoying A LOT. So far I've used this every day and I LOVE it. I'd say to go check it out at your M.A.C. counter or store. It'd be a great summery highlighter, oh gosh, especially with a tan! It'll be all you need :)

Review: Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream

I will now give you a few seconds to stop hyperventilating from the awesomeness of this color. No seriously, just take a few seconds I can wait. Okay? Okay. Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream. You guys probably remember that I am a sucker for anything to do with mermaids and I told you guys that if it's got mermaid in the name I honestly can't resist. Well ... example number 2! Haha 

What a beautiful color! It's nothing like I have ever seen before! I'm having trouble even describing it. I'm at that point where I just tell you guys to just stare at the swatches and hand your credit card to the online shopping monster! ;) The formula of the polish is unusual. It's thick, but at the same time it applies so smoothly and evenly. It's not at all streaky and you can most certainly get away with one coat, although I did use two! 

The color is a seafoam green, lighter or darker depending on the lighting you're in. It has blue and green glitters in it. It doesn't at all overpower the base color, just adds something extra, a sparkle and shimmer! Every time I looked down at my nails to describe what it reminds me of I thought of coral. It's got the glitter of the sea and the rough texture that I can imagine coral having. Now you're probably seeing "rough texture" and thinking well now I don't want a gritty polish! It's not like that all! It is so difficult to describe so I'll just stop here.

I have nothing bad to say about this polish. The color is gorgeous, so unique, and simply like no other. The formula is impeccable as is the pigmentation. I had this on for a week and it looked as it were no were near chipping. To put it simply; GO GET IT. NOW. SHOO!

Current Cravings | June Edition

1. Lace Crop Top from TopShop ($28) | First off, right off the bat, who wouldn't want a lacey cropped shirt? I saw this one as I was browsing online and just stopped and stared at it for a whole 5 minutes, zooming in and out. It's such a beautiful shirt that I can see myself wearing in the summer a lot with practically anything. With a flowing skirt if I go out to Central Park, with some shorts to go to the boardwalk and then a long sleeved denim shirt on top when it gets colder. I do mean I'd wear it with practically anything! I'd love to wear this to parties as well. It looks like such a comfortable fabric. I can't wait to go to TopShop and see it!
2. Ro's Argan Body Conditioner from LUSH Cosmetics ($30) | Rose Jam has to be the most amazing smell to hit my nose since the Twilight scent. It's the most amazing combination of fragrances. You get the rose scent that has a mixed in sweetness to it that will make a rose lover out of anyone! This price for this product is steep, but LUSH never seems to disappoint with softening products. I think this would be the perfect product to use after shaving my legs to make them feel soft, smooth, and smelling incredible!
3. Dr. Jart++ Waterfuse Beauty Balm from Sephora ($34) | I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW. I have heard only supercalifragalistic things about this BB Cream. And if anything bad has been said, well I just don't think I want to hear it. I have a Chanel foundation that I LOVE to use along with a M.A.C. concealer but in the summertime I don't want to cake even that onto my skin. I also heard that the BB Cream improves your skin while leaving a dewey finish, a light concealment, and does what my concealer will do. I MUST HAVE THIS.
4. Chanel Precision Eye-Definer (Brun Cuivre) from Nordstrom ($29) | I've never been a fan of pencil liners, but I saw a makeup tutorial with a Bobbi Brown eye pencil in Bronze that was apparently a limited edition item and I was devestated. It was such a beautiful brown color! So I went on Temptalia to hopefully find a proper dupe for it because I needed to have the color. Lo an' behold, Brun Cuivre from Chanel fit the description perfectly. I'm gonna wait to test out the color in person before I splurge but I've heard that it is a great liner that doesn't budge or smudge! Also, having another neutral color that's not as harsh as black would be brilliant.
5. Maybelline 10Hr. Stain Gloss & Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Stains from Drugstores ($6-$10 each depending where you get them) | Lip stains seem to be making quite a forceful comeback into the beauty world and I like what brands have done with them! The Maybelline Stain Gloss has been out for some time and reviews seem to be quite good that I wouldn't mind checking it out in maybe a natural pinky color! The Revlon Just Bitten stains are fairly new to the scene but they remind me of Clinique chubby sticks (which I do not own) but they are much cheaper so I would love to give them a go!
6. H-Troser Shoe (Cognac) from Steve Madden ($60) | These shoes would be perfect for the summer time! I like to wear skirts a lot and sometimes ballet flats just don't cut it for some outfits! These are the first I found that are a pretty light brown color and a reasonable price! I've been admiring them for a while, so hopefully they'll be on my toes quite soon! :)
