RiRi ❤ MAC | RiRi Woo

Let me first apologize for being a sucker for the shiny and limited edition things. I haven't updated in a while, but let's not forget I am still on my spending ban. A spending ban that went out the window as soon as I saw how gorgeous the packaging for the Riri ❤ MAC Fall collection was going to be. I like to think of myself as a collector of MAC's amazing LE packaged lipsticks. I'm still kicking myself for not getting anything from the Archie's Girl collection (*cough* Ronnie Red *cough*) So I knew I couldn't pass this one up! I almost broke down with guilt from buying it when I shouldn't have (no joke) but ah, just take a gander at that rose gold fella! It's also a red lipstick. I can NEVER have enough red lips. I'm digressing so hard ...

If you couldn't already tell, the shade I bought from this collection was RiRi Woo which is like the fraternal twin of MAC's already permanent shade Ruby Woo. RiRi Woo is just a stunning and classic, blue based bright red. It's the kind of red that makes your teeth look white (even if you haven't brushed them that day, not that I condone not brushing your teeth, haha) The finish is MAC's new Retro Matte which, if I'm honest, I'm not so sure what makes it different from a regular matte. But yes, it's a super matte. It's not a hydrating lipstick by ANY means. Seriously, prep your lips like you've never prepped your lips before. If you don't it'll tug, cling to every bit you have lying on your lips, and just not work with you at all. I recommend a good scrubbing with a lip scrub and then a nice layer of lip balm. NOT EOS. When I used an EOS lip balm the lipstick just slipped off my lips. Something like a C.O. Bigelow's lip salve, the Dr. Lipp Nipple Balm for Lips, or any kind of lip butter will be your best bet. Give it time to sink in to your lips (about 15 minutes) and then apply this beaut. Then, and only then, does it work like you want it to! There's great pigmentation, it's opaque in a swipe, and it'll last for most of the day! It seems like a lot of work, but you'll do what you need to get a gorgeous color to work on your lips. Especially when it means you get to whip out this beautiful rose gold packaged bullet!

The packaging is my favorite part of the whole lipstick. It's what made me want to buy it in the first place and also what made it so hard to resist just leaving it in the store! The outside is a metallic rose-gold with Rhianna's 'RiRi' signature on the cap and the awesome Riri ❤ MAC graphic on the bottom. The inside is a soft pink and even the inside of the cap is lined with the same color. I LOVE that sort of attention to color schemes. I'm such a nerd, you can say it, but AH it gets me going through the day, haha. The only issue is that it picks up finger prints like nobody's business!

So now, is it worth the $16.50 price tag? For me, yes. I love MAC's LE packaging- this one is no exception. Red lipsticks are honestly my favorite so I know (with a little patience) I'll get a whole lot of use with this product! If limited edition (albeit GORGEOUS) packaging or red lipsticks aren't something that reels you in then I think you can live without this. I'm a mermaid who always just needs to find things to complete her collection ;)
Are you as big of a sucker as I am for MAC's LE packaging? Esp. on their lipsticks? Have you picked up anything from RiRi ❤ MAC?

Changing Leaves

Hello guys and dolls! Today I've got an oh-so fall inspired makeup look/tutorial for you all! Since Fall is surely (slowly, but surely) approaching, I thought I'd create a look based on the leaves changing color and the different colors they change into. Usually when the leaves start to fade from green to browns, yellows, oranges, and reds is when I start to know that summer is ending and fall is fast approaching (well not this year, as it's 81 degrees in the middle of October, boo!) Alas, the leaves are still changing and the mornings and nights are a bit cooler, so there's that. I incorporated a lot of the colors the leaves change into to create a transitioning eye look. It really brings a warmth to the eyes and I was actually quite happy with how this look turned out that I'm probably going to recreate it and wear it out :) For a list of all the colors/shadows I used, check the information box of the video!

Belle | Tale As Old As Time

So last week we were sans Disney Princess post because I didn't post at all that week and it didn't feel right to just have a princess post on her own. If you're unfamiliar with my Disney Princess series, it's basically just a series I started where every Friday (or every other Friday) I choose a Disney Princess and create a look inspired by the the princess, the themes in the movie, or any of the gorgeous scenes. If you missed them I've done Snow White, Rapunzel and Kida. You can click on the respective princess to be sent to their look. Today I've created a look based on my second favorite Disney Princess of all time, Belle from Beauty & the Beast. I love Belle because she's sassy (but not rudely so, if you get my drift), she's extremely caring, and she loves to read. Now it's been a while since I've been able to sit down and focus on a book, but I do really love to read and I loved seeing a princess who did too when I was younger! All of my inspiration for this eye look came from Belle's beautiful yellow gown in the ball room scene, as well as the grand ballroom itself. I love the yellows, the browns, and the gold - they worked really well together and made my eyes look super-mega-awesome blue, haha! Here's what I used:

On the eyes:
  • NARS Smudgeproof Base Primer
  • INGLOT DS Shadow in 474
  • Urban Decay Buck Eyeshadow
  • Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow
  • Urban Decay Half Baked Eyeshadow
  • Urban Decay Smog Eyeshadow
  • Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes Eyeliner in 2L
  • Lit Cosmetics Glitter in Cowgirl #02
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara
On the face
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation/Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
  • Tarte Cheek Stain in Flush
  • MAC Venus Lipstick
How are you guys liking this series? I love bookie ol' Belle - how about you?

NOTD | Monsters Inc.

I've got Disney on the brain and BAD. I recently received the glorious glitter top coat that is Mermaid's Lagoon by Funky Fingers from Andrea from FromInsideMyCloset. I paired it on top of Essie's In The Cabana and it quickly reminded me of Sulley from Monster's Inc with his blue fur that's speckled with purple! There's no denying it when you look at it! So I decided to pair my Sulley nails with some Mike Wazowski nails while I was at it. I used the super true to color Ciate nail polish in Mojito and put Del Sol's Ruby Slippers on top which is just a silver glitter polish. I think the colors represent the duo of characters quite well! I'm not so savvy with nail art but when I can create something inspired by something else just using color stories/blocks, well that makes me a happy camper!
What do you think? Do you ever just get too much Disney on the brain?!

Fall In Love ❧ Tag

ANOTHER TAG, JESSICA? Have you lost your marbles? In my defense, this was supposed to come before yesterday's Crazy About Lipstick tag. I've been out of the YouTube sphere for a while now ... almost a month with only one video. So I thought the best way to really jump back into my videos is a tag video about my most favorite-est season in the entire world! I was tagged by Sandra from SBeauty101 (The Puzzle of Sandra's Life here on blogger) to do the 'Fall In Love' tag, which is the cutest play on words that I ever did see. It looked like heaps of fun (tags usually are, haha) and my love for the autumn season is clearly apparent in this video. Oh, and it's officially October and what I perfect way to welcome a new month that is almost the epitome of Fall! Sit back, relax, grab some apple cider, and I hope you enjoy! I promise my next tag video won't be for quite some time ;D

What's your favorite thing about fall/autumn?
