Macadamia Natural Oil

*drum roll* Ello lovelies, and happy Saturday! Today I bring you the last of my "hair care" series of posts and this one is a big 'ne. Let me try to make a really long story a bit shorter. About two months ago I was on a mission (yes, on a mission) to find any sort of hair product that would make my hair less dry, less frizzy, and look less like cave man hair. I took to twitter and was recommended Macadamia products by tons of (like 5) beauty bloggers. I had in fact heard of the brand and was always tempted to try the Deep Repair Mask but the price tag always scared me because I go through shampoo/conditioner like nobody's business. One day I found them in my local Stop N' Shop, took a deep breathe and bought the Shampoo ... and Leave-In cream, instead of conditioner. Yes, I'm an idiot, haha! I decided to leave both and see how I got on with them. I was slowly falling in love with the leave-in cream when I was contacted by the brand to perhaps try out their Luxe Travel Set*, which contained travel-sizes of some of their most popular products. I sort of had to jump at the opportunity - mostly because it meant I would finally have the matching conditioner to my shampoo, haha!

Macadamia Natural Oil is a line of hair products that were designed for "problem hair". If your hair is damaged, frizzy, dry, colored/permed, hard to manage, tangled, dull, lifeless, brittle, not soft, *takes deep breathe*  out of control, thick, or bushy, then, they say, Macadamia Natural Oil products are for you! Macadamia Natural Oil products are created with Macadamia and Argan oils which I've heard are seriously killer for your hair and even your skin. The Luxe Travel Set that I was so kindly sent came in a really lovely travel bag that fit all 6 of the products nicely inside. This bag alone would be great for taking products with you on your travels as it's quite decently sized. It has the same beautiful paisley pattern in green/brown that's on all their products. Inside were 6 products: 3.3oz Rejuvenating Shampoo, 2oz Moisturizing Rinse, 1ox Healing Oil Treatment, 3.3oz Deep Repair Masque, 2oz Nourishing Leave-In Cream, and a Healing Oil Infused Comb. This whole set retails for $29.95, which you can get on their site here -> macadamiahair.com. I was quite surprised at how cheap all these products together were. This set has enough product to last you more than a month (I've had it that long and still have so much product to spare!) So how'd I get on with each lovely product?

Rejuvenating Shampoo/Moisturizing Rinse
These two are a brilliant shampoo/conditioner combination for dry and super tangly hair. The shampoo alone untangled my hair and I could run my fingers through it, which is a feat because it usually stays knotted until I condition it. My hair feels really clean after using the shampoo, but it doesn't feel like it's stripping my hair of any last oils. The Moisturizing Rinse is just a great partner to the Rejuvenating Shampoo. Concentrating it on my ends leaves me with less brittle looking ends. When I get out of the shower my hair feels noticeably softer and it's a lot easier to brush through. Heck, I'm even able to use a comb and comb through it. When I run out of my sample of the Moisturizing Rinse I'll most def. be going back to buy the full size. I already have the full size of the Rejuvenating Shampoo. It's a little costly for shampoo ($21 for 33.8oz)/conditioner ($24 for 10oz) but it does live up to it's promises and my hair loves it, so I think it's worth it!

Healing Oil Treatment
I'd never tried any sort of oil treatment until I received this, but it was instant love. I was really skeptical using this because I was afraid an 'oil' would make my hair super greasy, but no, instead it decided to be fantastic. This Healing Oil Treatment is meant to nourish intensely tangled and frizzy hair, as well as make hair smooth, manageable, and shiny. It can even reduce drying time by 40 - 50% although I'll be honest and say I haven't really tested this theory. Remember from previous posts? Au natural. At first I used it at the ends of my hair after showering and about 10 minutes after putting my John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum in (reviewed here). The Healing Oil Treatment made my hair feel a loft softer and made the ends of my hair look less brittle and less dry. It completely nourishes the hair! I don't expect it to completely 'heal' my ends because I genuinely need to just get my hair trimmed, haha. But what I found works best is running a bit through the tips of your hair after it's dried. It still leaves the hair soft, looking nourished, and looking super bright and shiny. You need just a little dab! I'm sure this little sample size will last me a while, but when it does run out I think I will by a bigger size ($39.95 for 4.2oz/$13.50 for 1oz) It's magic in a bottle for my hair!

Nourishing Leave-In Cream
Now onto the little beast I accidentally bought instead of the Moisturizing Rinse - the Nourishing Leave-In Cream. This Leave-In Cream is an absolute gem for those with dry hair, especially at the ends. It's purpose is to detangle and tame unruly locks, as well as add silkiness and shine like most of these products aim to do! I put this in my hair after it's had time to dry until "damp" (what is damp, exactly?) I flip my head over and just apply one pump to the mid-length of my hair, avoiding my roots. It leaves my hair soft and silky feeling. When I first bought it I ran it through my whole head and ended up with a grease-ball mess, so avoid your roots and remember "less is more!" For ladies with drier hair, I highly recommend this. It's one thing to condition your hair but to add a little bit of 'leave-in' nourishment will do wonders! I keep playing with the ends of my hair because they're completely soft now. Like I said above, I could do with a trim to tame the split ends, but besides that my hair is left super smooth. I already had the bigger bottle of this stuff which retailed $28 for 10oz.

Deep Repair Masque
So this is the product I was most excited to try out as it's raved on YouTube and by other bloggers! You've no doubt already heard about this hair Masque before. The Deep Repair Masque is enriched with Argan and Macadamia oils to do what the above products do but like they're on crack, haha. It's a product that'll provide deep-nourishment and longer lasting condition. This would be fantastic as that's exactly what my hair needs and I'd rave about it too if it weren't such a project to use. You shampoo/clean your hair as you would and then liberally comb this through your hair, leaving it in for up to 7 minutes and then finally rinsing it out. It does a nice job of conditioning my hair and leaving it soft, but I found it didn't do anything a combination of the shampoo, rinse, oil treatment, and leave-in cream couldn't do. If you're looking for a weekly treat to get some added nourishment and repair that you don't need or get from your regular routine, I say this would be perfect for you. But since the above products worked so well, I didn't need the extra, once/twice weekly repair. It's a very luxurious treat but it's a bit of a hassle for me to get in the shower, get out, apply, and then go back in. When my sample runs out I don't think I'll be repurchasing it, as it's not something I totally need at $36 for 8.5oz. If you're interested they do sell a 1oz sample packet size for about $4, if you'd like to try it out!

Healing Oil Infused Comb
A comb! Boy, is a girl with knotted, tangled, and frizzy hair ever so glad to take a gander at this beaut. It scared me when I saw it. I'm sitting here thinking, "NO WAY is that going to make it through an inch of my hair." This is no average comb though as Macadamia infuses this comb with Healing Oil. I know, how the heck did they do that?! The site says the comb is made with a specially formulated resin that allows the oil to be infused in it so that you can comb your hair, evenly apply the healing oil, without getting residue on your hands. The wide spread teeth helps to detangle your hair as you comb through it, and it does a really fine job at that! There are little pulls here and there on more stubborn knots, but other than it works like a charm. As for the infusion of the healing oil, I can't say I notice much of a difference. I did try using it on it's own without the added use of the Healing Oil Treatment but I didn't really notice a significant difference. It's a very nice comb to have on hand, as I didn't have one, and combing is much better than brushing wet hair, so there's that added bonus! Am I glad I have it? Yes. Can I live without it? Probably. This puppy retails for $9 on their website.

Sorry this post had to be so long guys! I wanted to make sure I was as thorough as I could be when talking about each product so you could get a better sense of what the products do and how they work on my hair which is dry, frizzy, tangled, and all around cave-men hair, haha! The Macadamia line is astounding for dry and unruly hair. I'm glad I was suggested it by fellow bloggers and given an opportunity to test a majority of their line. If you're thinking about trying out some of their products and are a bit hesitant, for whatever reason, I highly suggest looking into getting the Luxe Travel Set. Whilst I was writing the post I did the math in my head and it's worth way more than you are paying for it. It's an all around fantastic brand that I can see myself using for a while as it's the only products that seem to work the way I want them to! Plus, I think I should mention that all of these products, no matter which one interests you, will leave you hair with a gorgeous natural, yet sweet scent! I really like my new little routine of using their products, and although you don't absolutely need every product in this set at full size, it's nice to know that the products in this range do what they say they will!

If you're interested, you can check out Macadamia products here ...
So now let's hear from you! What are your thoughts on this range?

  3. I really want to try out their products, everyone raves about them so much. The only thing hat does put me off is the price though as they are even more expensive here in the UK. I think i'll give the oil a go and if I get on with it then I may have to expand further into the range :)

    1. Dang the price! I'm gonna look for something that works pretty similarly for a cheaper price because I totally understand that just because it's great doesn't mean everyone can afford it :/ YES, if you're going to give one product a shot, it'd have to be the oil. You can order a small bottle of it, which isn't as expensive and last AGES! :)
