Batiste | Dry Shampoo

I bought this, took its picture, uploaded it to a post, saved it to a draft, and waited for the day I knew I would right only a lackluster review on this product. I've never been one to jump on the dry shampoo wagon because, let's be honest here, I didn't really think some magical powder would suddenly soak up all the oily bits in my hair and BABAM, fresh and cleaned. Loads and loads of bloggers hoot and holler and rave about the Batiste dry shampoo so of course I got super curious, but still, didn't think it would be magical.

Welp ... I was so totally wrong. Now I'm going to join the herds of bloggers raving about this product! This magical canister of powder is amazeballs to the max! Let me start with the superficial; the packaging on this can? product? is so cute. I love the little flowers and the cute blue font. It appeals to me in so many ways that I actually wouldn't mind having it out as a mini desk decoration (I'm odd, I know). Next, the smell. Oh my guacamole, the scent is delicious and I want it made into a perfume. There are cans? bottle? (what the heck do you call this thing?!) with different scents and even powder colors (for those with darker hair) but I picked up the Floral & Flirty. I was actually looking for the one with the Union Jack but seeing as how I live in America, I can see why they don't stock it, LOL. Anywho, the scent is nice and sometimes I find myself just spraying this in my hair so it has a lovely scent to it. I wish I could describe the scent properly to you all but just ... I can't see anyone disliking it! *knocks on wood*

The product itself is something to get used to if you, like me, have never used dry shampoo before. You're supposed to pick up your hair and spray at the roots, with the can? bottle? (please someone tell me!) about 5 inches from your hair and spray! At first it looked liked it wasn't doing a darn thing and I put it away thinking "I knew it, nothing special..." It says to massage your hair after spraying, but I found it works WAY better if you just leave it and let it be for a few minutes. When I massaged right after spraying it was like I rubbed all the product out. But it actually works, it really does! How do I know, for sure? On Saturday it had been 3 days since I'd washed my hair (don't judge, let's just pretend I was doing it for the sake of experimentation ;) ) and I had to go to work that day. My hair was looking like an oily mess and I looked at this bottle?! can?! product?! and thought "now is the time to prove yourself" Prove itself it did! My train wreck of a do turned slightly more voluminous and made it look like "2nd day hair" Sure I sprayed a gallons worth but it worked and I looked totally presentable for work! My verdict is that everyone needs at least one dry shampoo in their collection of hair products for emergency uses. It's seriously a life saver and the Batiste one works magnificently! I wash my hair every other day, but when I don't feel up to it, this is so handy to have!

I found this at my local Stop N' Shop for around $9 but I'm pretty sure you can get this at a drugstore or and Ulta, as well! If anything you can always order it off of drugstore.com (they have the one with the Union Jack!)

What do you guys think of the Batiste dry shampoo? Have you tried any others? Let me know!

  4. Can! A bottle has a screw top lid :) I'm glad you like it. I really just couldn't live without it. It's not even funny how many of them I've went through, I literally buy them every 3/4 weeks and have done for the past 2 years. This is my favourite scent, or the tropical :) I haven't actually tried the scent of the union jack one, but wouldn't buy it anyway as I'm very anti flag right now because of my stupid country!x

    1. I figured, but when I picture can I picture a can of tomatoes or sauce, LOL. Your review on it made me think "Okay, time to get this!" It's incredible! Haha, I feel like I'm always insulting you by raving about the Union Jack flag! It probably smells stinky anyway ;) Now the tropical one, that I need to try!!!

  5. I LOVE DRY SHAMPOO. It is seriously a life saver.
I have never tried Batiste, but the packaging is adorable! My favorite has to be Dove, I wish they made a perfume the way it smelled.

  7. Batiste is indeed a miracle worker! I tested it out when I as in England since I've never seen it sold anywhere near where I live, and it worked so much better than the dry shampoo I had been using! I use the urban graffiti one and really love how it smells. I will admit that I tried the one you have first and hated the scent even though everyone else seems to love it!

  8. I use the batiste one for brown hair as it makes my hair look a bit less white. I still have to rub it in a bit, but it takes much less time than the others. I don't know what i'd do without dry shampoo!

  11. I used up a gazillion of cans, or bottles, or whatever (haha, I don't know either!) of Batiste dry shampoo back when I was living in England – and yeah, I only used the Union Jack one (and just in case you're wondering, it's totally worth trying it because of the scent! It smells just like english roses) and oh, boy, that is undoubtedly one of the things I miss the most about the UK drugstore products. Here in Brazil we have NO dry shampoo at all, either you buy it from e-bay and wait a million years for it to be delivered or you don't skip a day of washing your hair. Oh, Batiste dry shampoo, how I miss the days I could just carry you around my purse! Also: lovely review and your blog layout is very neat and easy on the eyes! I love when people write "long" actual review on the products and you not only did that great as the fontype you chose to your blog makes it much more pleasant to read :)

    1. Right?! Okay, glad I'm not the only one with this dilemma. I must hunt down the Union Jack one, to sniff and to have for decoration, haha! Oh no, none at all?! Maybe when you order, just order the entire stock, at least then when it finally comes you have enough to last you till the end of the world!

Thanks, that really means a lot to me. You just brightened my whole day :) Glad you like the layout and the way I type up my posts because it's very encouraging :) Thank you, again, hehe :) xx

  12. Yesss, I love the scent as well, but find the Union Jack one smells even nicer. I was like you at first, didn't think it did much, but I was proven wrong when I actually picked up sections of my hair instead of just spraying the product at it. It's beautiful and I love it and there's really no more to say :)

    1. Dang it, I seriously want this Union Jack one! Haha, I was hoping you saw my comment, cause I was like NOOO, it works for us curly haired too! It works so much better when you pick up sections (curly or straight) and ugh, yes no more to say, so good! :) xx

    1. Dang it, two people who don't like the smell. It's one of the only canister dry shampoos I've ever tried and I LOOOOVE it! :)

  14. You should try the Wild scent that Batiste does. It's literally just the nicest scent ever — kind of vanilla-y? ALSO Batiste Brit is amazing. My husband is british and he was like "this is so weird it actually smells british". I dunno but it's so good. Also I do the same and wait a few minutes before rubbing it in! It just takes really well. x

    1. IT SMELLS BRITISH? WOT. I must smell British. LOL so strange. I didn't see the Wild scented one but then again I was overly excited and just grabbed the flowery one. Will be on the look out for it, for sure! Thanks! :)
