Aurora | Once Upon A Dream

Happy Friday, to all! It's been a while, but I'm finally back with my Disney Princess series! I've been sick all week, but it's been far too long and I needed to get back in the swing of this series! If you're new to my blog (there are a few newbies, so hello!) my Disney Princess series is basically a series in which I take inspiration from one Disney princess and create an eye/makeup look! I've already done six other princesses Snow White, Rapunzel, Kida, Belle, Cinderella, and Ariel, so make sure to check those out by clicking on each respective princess! Today is the seventh installment and I bring to you Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. I'll be honest, this is the princess I had a hard time with finding inspiration. I really loved the concept of the "make it pink, make it blue" when the fairies were fighting over the color of Aurora's dress, but I couldn't find a way to make it not seem like a baby shower on my eyes. I wasn't very inspired by Aurora and all I could think was natural, natural, natural because she's a probably the most natural beauty. So I took the theme of natural and actually ended up using blushers as eyeshadows to create a pretty pink gradient. My sister said it looked like my Rapunzel look, but I think this one is more subdued and natural (*take a shot every time I say natural) I really like it and can actually see myself wearing this to work, sans the glitter of course, haha. I may redo her one day, although I am quite pleased with the finished look ... and the tiara ;D Here's what I used:

Ariel | Part of Your World

Happy Friday, everyone! Are you excited for today's installment of my Disney Princess series? I hope so, because I am for two reasons, in fact! The first is that today I finally bring to you a look inspired by my mermaid friend Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She is my absolute and totally favorite princess of them all and not only because she's a mermaid. She's quirky, adventurous, and slightly misunderstood- which are things I related to a lot when I was younger and can even relate to now. If you're new to my Disney Princess series, it's pretty self explanatory at this point! I take inspiration from the various Disney princesses and create look inspired by them and their movies. I've done Snow White, Rapunzel, Kida, Belle, and Cinderella- you can click on each respective princess to see their look! For this look I was inspired by a lot of the oceanic themes, Ariel's shell top and scaly tale, and most of all her red lips and hair! I like to think I've really done Ariel justice, I really love how it came out and didn't want to take it off! Now the second reason I'm excited for this post is because it's a collaboration with the wonderfully talented Marvelle who blogs over at Blog of Shadows. Whilst I have this Disney Princess series going, she's got one for the month of October titled 'This Is Halloween' where she's created some magnificent makeup looks you can wear for Halloween; simple ones and ones where you can go all out. So we've teamed up today to bring you the mermaid princess, Ariel, and the evil sea-witch, Ursula. Once you're done here, you must go over and check out Marvelle's Ursula look! Cinderella | When The Clock Strikes 12

It's Friday here on The Mod Mermaid and you know what that means! (Yes, I just ripped DailyGrace's intro, haha) I'm back today with the fifth installment of my Disney Princess series! I really hope you guys are enjoying them! I'm thinking of doing some quick tutorials for each look I've done so far and putting them in a playlist on my YouTube channel. I think it'd be great for anyone who maybe wants to dress up like the Princesses for Halloween. If it's something you'd like to see let me know? I truly wasn't expecting so many of you to want me to recreate them, haha! So if this is your first Disney Princess post of mine you are seeing, this series is basically me taking inspiration from a specific Disney Princess each week and creating a makeup look for them. I've done Snow White, Rapunzel, Kida, and Belle so far and you can click on each respective princess to see her look! Today's princess is none other than Cinderella! Now I know Snow White was technically the first princess, but Cinderella was mine. She holds a special place in my heart for being the first Disney Princess I've ever come across so I really wanted to do this look some justice! For Cinderella's look I took inspiration from, yup, you guessed it, her famous glass slipper. I went all out with the shimmering shadows, sparkling false lashes (applied quite wonky, apologies,) and rhinestones to mimic the glass. I seriously didn't want to take this makeup off and was so tempted to place a tiara on my head and ballroom dance in my living room, haha. Here's what I used:

Belle | Tale As Old As Time

So last week we were sans Disney Princess post because I didn't post at all that week and it didn't feel right to just have a princess post on her own. If you're unfamiliar with my Disney Princess series, it's basically just a series I started where every Friday (or every other Friday) I choose a Disney Princess and create a look inspired by the the princess, the themes in the movie, or any of the gorgeous scenes. If you missed them I've done Snow White, Rapunzel and Kida. You can click on the respective princess to be sent to their look. Today I've created a look based on my second favorite Disney Princess of all time, Belle from Beauty & the Beast. I love Belle because she's sassy (but not rudely so, if you get my drift), she's extremely caring, and she loves to read. Now it's been a while since I've been able to sit down and focus on a book, but I do really love to read and I loved seeing a princess who did too when I was younger! All of my inspiration for this eye look came from Belle's beautiful yellow gown in the ball room scene, as well as the grand ballroom itself. I love the yellows, the browns, and the gold - they worked really well together and made my eyes look super-mega-awesome blue, haha! Here's what I used:

Kida | The Heart of Atlantis

It's Friday once more and I've got another Disney Princess inspired look to share with you all. I am absolutely loooooooving that you guys are loving this series! I'm coming up with ideas and inspiration so quickly that I think I may need an extra set of eyes to test out looks. If you've missed the first two installments of this Disney series where I did Snow White and Rapunzel, you can find them by clicking on the respective princess. Today's princess is Kida from the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire. She's a princess that I think a lot of people forget about until they're reminded of her. She's a gorgeous Atlantian with beautiful sky blue tattoos on her body that I wish were culturally acceptable because I'd be all over that. She's a gorgeous and selfless princess who really just wants to help her people learn and remember their culture and where they came from. A lot of my inspiration for the look came from Kida herself; her clothes, her eyes, her hair, and of course, her brilliant tattoos. I loved this look so much when I put it on that it almost pained me to wash it off! Here's what I used:

Rapunzel | I See The Light

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm back today with the second installment (sounds rather fancy, but I don't know what else to call it) of my Disney Princess series! Can I just say that I was completely overwhelmed by the response to the Snow White look? I was hoping for a super positive reaction, but honestly wasn't expecting all the lovely comment that I got so, THANK YOU :D If you haven't yet seen that look you can do so by heading over here. Today's chosen Disney Princess is Rapunzel from the ever so lovely movie Tangled. She is my sister's absolute favorite princess and she insisted that I do a look for her right after Snow White. I took inspiration from the touching scene with the lanterns in front of the castle. The night sky being animated as gorgeous as it was to then be illuminated by all the yellow and orange tones of the lanterns was just breathtaking. That scene always gets to me and makes my face contort into that weird expression where my eyes are sad but my mouth and cheeks are just radiating happiness. Here are the products I used:

Snow White | Just One Bite

Hello, hello everyone! Today is the beginning of an exciting new series that I've got cooking! Recently, I've been thinking of a fun series I could do on this blog weekly or bi-weekly that would force me to get creative with my makeup. I've come up with an EOTD (eye of the day) in the style of Disney Princesses. I had to make it around Disney Princesses because some of them are such bad-asses and they all have bright and interesting colors in their 'palette's', so to speak, that would really help me think outside the box. Also, I've been getting myself really excited to go to Disney World soon (next year, but still, EEEEEK!) I'll be wanting to go to Disney World 'till I'm old and grey! Anyway, this series will involve an eye look inspired by a different Disney Princess each week (or every other week if I'm a bit stumped) and today's princess is Snow White! Now I'll be honest here and say Snow White is probably my least favorite Disney Princess. I'm not sure why, exactly, but perhaps it was her high pitched and sickenigly sweet sounding voice *shudders* Either that or the other Disney Princesses just seem a lot cooler! Regardless, I'm in LOVE with this look. I was inspired by the sinister and dark motif's of Snow White and especially the poisonous apple. Here are the products I used:
