YSL Volupté Sheer Candy || Cool Guava

Normally I'm the kind of girl that always opts for a bold lip color. I usually don't see the point of applying a sheer lip color when it'll just feel like nothing is there. Well, somehow this YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in Cool Guava has found it's way into my top 3 most used lipsticks. Yup, this sheer baby pink color is a firm, firm favorite of mine to don' almost daily. Like said, Cool Guava is a baby pink color that leans a little towards the bluer spectrum of pink with maybe some mid tones of yellow. Basically, it's a cooler shade of pink is what I'm getting at. It's a super smooth formulation and a sheer wash of color. You can def. build up the intensity of the color by swiping over your lips a few extra times, but remember, it'll stay sheer and just give the color a little more brightness. The YSL Sheer Candy gives your lips a nice and fresh tint while adding some natural looking glossy shine. The color lasts for maybe 2 hours before it starts to fade into nothingness, but the formula is so moisturizing that you can apply it over top without fear of clumping the product. Also, since it's a sheer pigmentation, you don't have to worry about being precise and can genuinely apply this on the go by using the tiny reflective cap as a mirror. 

It goes without saying that the YSL packaging is a stunner. The silver tube with the color of the product in the middle accented with the gold logo is just spectacular to behold. It also goes without saying that this product is pretty expensive. I was lucky enough to have received a gift card from my sister on my birthday a few months ago that I got to use on this $34 gem. Would I have bought this product without one? If I had noticed it, probably! I'm so happy to have this lipstick in my collection. Some days, I just need that bright yet light and subtle wash of color; something simple to get me through the day.  Cool Guava has permanent residence in my handbag and I find myself popping it on all the time!

Can You Ever Have Fuchsia in Excess?

Hello everyone, from gosh knows how many miles of the ground! I'm currently sitting on the most turbulent plane (seriously, I'm a little scared), ears popped, with no food in my belly and on my way to Canada! So I thought this would be the perfect time to write up a post on the newest member of my lipstick collection. I saw this beaut while browsing in Sehpora - well, I didn't see the lipstick, just the wonderful ad with a gorgeous woman and her even more gorgeous lip color. It was bright, it was fuchsia, and I needed it. I didn't get it when I automatically saw it (good little beauty blogger *pats head*) and I didn't get it when I saw it the few times after that. Sometimes it was in stock, but mostly I didn't get it because it was sold out. Then one day I find myself in a shiny new (to me) mall in Jersey with a 10% off coupon. I couldn't resist at that point. I made a beeline for the YSL section, nabbed the color and I'm now the proud owner of YSL's Rouge Volupte Shine in No. 5 Fuchsia in Excess. 

I'm no stranger to YSL's Rouge Volupte line of lipsticks - they're the ones I usually treat myself to when I've got a coupon and a craving for one (or my boyfriend decides to be generous on Valentine's Day, haha) You can check out the review of the other two over here. The packaging of Fuchsia in Excess is gorgeous with the gold throughout all of it. I love the detail on the center with logo and the color of the lipstick in the band. I always appreciate little details on the outside packaging that let you know the color of the product inside - saves so much time when you're digging through to find the one you need. The formula of this lipstick is outstanding, which should be expected when paying $30 for a lipstick. It just glides on the lips without accentuating any flaky or dry areas. The formula is quite moisturizing and the staying power is actually a bit better than the other two I've had. A little may transfer when you eat or drink, but the color still stays vibrant. It's semi-opaque on the lips and leaves a shiny finish - nothing too glossy. Fuchsia in Excess is almost a berry toned fuchsia. It looks bright but not too bright and I feel like I'll be able to wear this color any time in any season. It looks great when I wear my most recent gold/purple eyeliner combo and stunning with a neutral eye. 

So at $30 a pop it's def. one of those lipsticks that you 'treat' yourself to but with the amazing pigmentation, quality, and array of colors, they'll lipsticks worth investing in!

YSL | Rouge Volupte Lipsticks

Hey there lovelies! Today I'm here to share with you a very amazing, and quite luxurious, brand of lipstick. They are the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Lipsticks. Each one is $34 a pop which yes, sounds quite expensive, it is, but oh my lanta is it worth it. I'll go step by step with this one and start with the packaging. The golden packaging is just so elegant. It's what I imagine a very wealthy fashionista keeping on her vanity. I love the small detailing in the middle of the tube with the gorgeous YSL logo. I also love that the color of the lipstick is represented within that detailing. It makes it so easy to see the color and that way you're not digging through all of them (all of two for me, haha!) to find the color you need! 

The lipsticks, of course, roll up to reveal stunning shades. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the shades in the range. I have two of the more bold shades; Rose Paris 27 (a Valentine's gift from my boyfriend from a year ago) and Forbidden Burgundy 12 (a treat to myself and coupons were had). Rose Paris is a bright coral that's more on the pinky side. It's an amazing shade for the summer time! Forbidden Burgundy is a deep plum shade that's the perfect vampy shade to where in the fall and the winter. The formulation of both is stunningly pigmented and they radiate color. Is that a strange way to describe it? Both glide on so smoothly and are opaque in just one swipe. I love that they're moisturizing, creamy and they leave a luminous shine on the lips. The color lasts for ages and you can barely feel it on your lips. 

The Rouge Volupte lipsticks do have a scent to them and I think it's the most pleasant smell you could give a lipstick. It smells sweet like a fruit, but softly. It doesn't last on my lips  (boo!) and it doesn't irritate either (hooray!) so that shouldn't be too, too bad for those sensitive to scents! The only other downfall is that because the color is so glossy and creamy it has a tendency to slip and slide. I recommend not eating or drinking anything for the first 15 minutes to allow the lipstick to set because if not, it'll transfer to EVERYTHING. Tiny downfall that can be fixed with a bit of patience, but still a downfall!

I still want to get Rose Culte 11 which is a vivid fuchsia color but it's sold out everywhere I go! I have yet to swatch it on myself but I can almost guarantee it'll be a color I love. The YSL Rouge Volupte's are pricey but the elegance, fantastic pigmentation and lasting power make it a lipstick worth treating yourself to! I hope to be treating myself to another one soon as these are one of my absolute favorite lipsticks!
