IT'S COMING | Disney Ariel Collection Exclusively at Sephora

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT. Not really, but boy oh boy don't caps locked letters get your blood rushing? This is a very impromptu and very improper blog post but the crazy mermaid lady in me is shouting in my head and telling me there's no way this information could not be shared! Basically, this is a post letting you guys now, and giving you a heads up that Sephora is gearing up and getting ready to release the third installment of their Disney Collection, WHO JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE ARIEL, WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE A MERMAID. I saw Leesha, or xSparkage, tweet about it (also in CAPS) as my eyes were shutting and in .5 seconds (that point .5 seconds that it took me to register what it was she was shouting about) I bolted out of bed and ran to the Sephora site. *sigh* It's not out yet! But for anyone who's been waiting, as eagerly as I have, and frantically checking their e-mails  for this installment of the collection, this is your friendly neighborhood mermaid, letting you know - IT'S COMING. Here's the promo video Sephora released for it.

It's magical, and I'm completely jealous of the model who got to pretend to be the mermaid. I'm so stoked for this release. I don't think I've ever been so excited, or more willing to part with money, for any other collection, from any brand. The attention to detail Sephora has shown with the other collections (Cinderella and Jasmine) was killer. They could have easily made these collections tacky and relied on nostalgia alone to reel in the dough, but no, AGH! Just look at that packaging. Both palettes and DEF. that compact are on my list. June 2013 (HOW CRIPTIC) is when it comes out online and August 2013 is when it'll hit the shelves of Sephora. June 2013? Would it have killed them to give us an ACTUAL date? They're probably really enjoying the commotion they've caused. Suffice to say that I shall now be even more glued to my phone, but now with credit card in hand everywhere I go. So yeah, thought you all should ;)

What are your thoughts? Excited? Indifferent? (THAT'S RIDICULOUS!) Will you be picking anything up? ;)

My Discombobulated Finger Decorations

Hey ho, fellow mermaid-ites. (WOT?!) I meant to write up a review post for you all today and some more for the rest of the week featuring my foundation products but I'm just not feeling it! Do you ever have one of those days (or couple of weeks to be honest, haha) when the only thing that seems appealing is laying in bed with Netflix? I've been having that kind of week! So I think I'll just save the foundation posts for next week and instead step away from the make up bits and share some of my favorite jewelry with you all! I'd never been a ring person until college started and now I just can't get enough! I love small, understated, and dainty rings. I want them to catch your eye and add some sass to my fingers without having to be the size of my hand! As of today these are the three rings that I wear on my fingers every single day. I call them my 'discombobulated finger decorations' because 'rings' sounds too boring and discombobulated because I've managed to mix gold, silver, and rose gold across my fingers. Usually I wear silver rings and wouldn't be a fan of having all these different colors on at the same time but somehow these all seem to work. All three are very different, but very me, and I guess that's why they don't draw the wrong kind of attention, like "girl, did you dress your fingers in the dark?!"

The gold ring with the (fake or real? I have no idea) emerald in the center was a ring that was, I think, given to my mom by my dad and then too me. I've had it for a while now but just recently started wearing it more. It goes on the pointer finger of my left hand because there are too many on my right hand, haha. It fits nicely on my ring finger but as I'm not married or engaged I feel strange putting rings, especially this shiny, on that finger. The celtic ring is one that's near and dear to me, so much so that I've bought it twice and it wasn't cheap! After starting college my friend and I went to the Holiday Market in Union Square which had a celtic jewelry booth. We both saw this ring and fell in love that we almost fought to the death for it until the nice lady working the booth said she had one more. In true Cinderella story fashion each ring fit our fingers perfectly and then we parted with *cough* $35 *cough*. I ended up losing mine, SOMEHOW, during last summer. I got very frustrated and wanted to be mad at the world because that was maybe the coolest and nicest (not to mention expensive) ring I purchased. So when the Holiday Market came back again this past winter I scavenged every. single. booth. to find my beloved ring. I couldn't find it, at all, until I went to the waffle booth with my sister and there it was. Hidden away behind waffles and speculoos (delicious graham cracker cookie butter spread, MMM) was the celtic booth and I almost gave the same nice lady a heart attack running over and squaking. I parted with another *cough* $35 *cough* but hey, it's a ring that meant a lot to me! The final ring is a recent buy that's also a knuckle (or midi) ring. I love knuckle rings. There's just something so sassy and badass about them! I feel like I can tackle the world when I have one on. If I have two on, watch out because my confidence will be through the roof. Why, I have no idea!? I found this rose gold ring with a itty bitty heart on it at Brandy Melville. It was $3 which I thought was a steal esp. at Brandy Melville where everything costs an arm and an appendix. It's cute and subtle, which is everything I'd want a ring to be! You'll never catch me without all three or at least one of them on whilst walking out and about!
What's your favorite type of ring? If you're a fan of dainty type rings let me know where you've gotten them! I'd love to have more discombobulated finger decorations!

May Favorites

Is May really over? I mean finally over?! I don't know about you but May dragged on and on for me! I can't believe that so much has happened in just 31 days! As per usual, with the end of each month, beauty gals look back and reflect on the products that tickled out fancy in the past month. Me, well I get a headache trying to remember what exactly were my favorites! Was it this month? Or April? No wait, I didn't use that in May! LOL, I hope I'm not the only one who goes through that when 'Favorites' time approaches. My make up routine didn't change much this month as I've been pretty happy with my set routine. But there are some fun new things that I wanted to share with you all that, if I'm honest, I've been loving for the past two weeks!

  • Urban Decay Naked Basics | I sound like a broken record every time I include this in my favorites posts/videos and talk about how great it is! I have a full rave review over here if you'd like to hear my thoughts on it!
  • MAC Let's Skate Paint Pot | I've been loving using this as a primer. The staying power is great but this one adds a little bit of sparkle! I've written a full review with swatches here
  • Beauty Blender | I'm planning on writing a RAVE review like no other on this amazing sponge. In the video you can hear my excitement and that's just a taste of how much I love it. It is the absolute best tool I've ever used to apply my foundation.
Those are just a few of my favorites, there's a few extra makeup, hair, fashion and nail bits that I talk about in my video! Stay tuned till the end to see a seriously awesome favorite of the month! I'm so glad it's June and that Summer is "technically" here! I want the warm weather, beaches, pools, and maybe get a little color, although I always seem to get red instead of gold. The one thing I'm not looking forward to is cicadas. I saw a bunch dead on the street on a walk to the train and almost peed myself right then and there. Not something you wanted to picture, I'm sure, but seeing a battlefield of cicadas is something I didn't want to picture! Eek!

What were some of your favorites for May?

NOTD | I ❤ Barry M

Today's post is going to be a quick NOTD! I was recently gifted some wonderful and amazing Barry M Hi-Shine Nail Paints from my good blogging buddy Melissa who runs Melissa Knows Best. Anyone who follows me on twitter or chatted with me in previous General #bbloggers chats knows that I couldn't go 5 seconds without talking about these polishes, oggling at other blogger's swatches of them, or formulating a plan to get them over to me (without paying such ridiculous shipping costs!) I'm so happy and in awe of these polishes that they have been the only ones I've used for manicures on myself and my sister since I've gotten them (which has been a week!) I'm going to review these polishes soon but in the mean time I thought I'd share my latest manicure with them using Greenberry and Prickly Pear! I can't handle the pastel-y-bright goodness! I also feel so bad ass with the whole two finger accent nail thing that I also did for my IMATS NOTD, which was strangely inspired by Spring Breakers (that movie still haunts my dreams ... and I can't even enjoy High School Musical, anymore!) I can't wait to review these for you all! I love them so much and you've all probably heard a ton about them ... but what's one more review from an excited American? LOL.

Unfortunately, this manicure was completely ruined and squished because I spent all of today cleaning my house (it's my new Summer gig, haha!) I feel like Consuela from Family Guy (We need more lemon pledge ... we actually did!) It took me about 5 hours too make sure everything was spick and span and by that time my nails were chipped and fingers all prickly, yuck! But hey, it's a Summer job that'll let me stay home, wear any ridiculous cleaning outfit I want, and jam out to copious amounts of music on my iPod (I listened to 81 songs in the span of that 5 hours, oh my lanta...) And now I'm off to take a bath whilst re watching A Very Potter Musical (which if you haven't seen you must!)
What do you lovelies think?

YouTube Challenges? We Accept!

Today's post is one to bring your attention to a video I have filmed and put up on my channel! It is a compilation of three various YouTube challenges that my sister and I have seen surfacing. We (well, she) thought it would be really funny to do them on camera and see how we did! We ended up making a little competition out of it and got really silly at times (well, I did). The challenges we attempted were the Cotton Ball Challenge, Chubby Bunny Challenge, and then the Saltine Cracker Challenge. The challenges were really fun and actually quite difficult! Okay, maybe not that difficuly, but when you're laughing and goofing around, they're tough! I'd love for you guys to watch the video and have a little laugh, I think you just might have a big one!

Here are the challenges in case you're not quite sure what each entails:
  • Cotton Ball Challenge | Requires that one person be blindfolded, be given a spoon and a plate to be placed on top of their head. The other person fills a plate or bowl with cotton balls and has the first person scoop the cotton balls and see how many they can get onto their plate in 5 attempts. You can't feel wether or not you've scooped any cotton balls onto the spoon because they're so light! Really funny!
  • Chubby Bunny Challenge | Each person puts one marshmallow into their mouth and has to say 'Chubby Bunny'. You can't chew or swallow any of the marshmallows. Whoever can get the most marshmallows in their mouth and still say 'Chubby Bunny' wins!
  • Saltine Cracker Challenge | Each person gets six saltine crackers and has one full minute to eat them, crumbs and all, without the assistance of water or any drink.

As always, let me know what you guys think! You guys should try out these challenges with your siblings or friends! It's great for some laughs and 'bonding', awwwww!
