INGLOT Eyeshadows & Freedom System

Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope you're all having a fan-dabby-dosey of a week. I'm finally back from my trip to Canadia (that's not a typo, I really do call it Ca-nay-diya) It was a really great trip that I think I'm going to do a post on with some pictures for anyone who would like to see. I did manage to pick up some beauty-related things whilst I was there (some that you can't get your hands on in the US) and I think I'll have a haul of that up quite soon. In the meantime, today I'm going to share with you a fantastic brand of eyeshadows that you no doubt have already heard about, and if not woah, mama get ready. I can't even remember how I was introduced to the INGLOT brand in general, but I do know that it was love at first sight. My favorite thing about INGLOT is their Freedom System. This Freedom System lets you choose from an assortment of different sizes and styles of palettes and a gigantic array of eyeshadows - in practically any color and finish you can imagine. You get to pick and choose which palette you want and want colors go inside, which is awesome!

Every eyeshadow I've tried or bought is extremely pigmented - one gentle touch to the powder and your finger is left opaque with color. The shadows are smooth, easy to work, and blend able. Some are really buttery to the touch like the Pearl finishes and some are a bit stiffer, but that has no indication of quality because they all perform so well! The INGLOT shadows aren't labeled by name - they are labeled by number and finish, which makes it really hard to remember them when they're stuck in your pan or even go searching for one. It's a bummer, but if you right them down on the back or on a sheet of paper it shouldn't be a problem! Now this impeccable quality must come with an impeccable price tag, yeah? NOPE! INGLOT eyeshadows are $6 for the pan and you're getting about .08 - .11 oz of product (depending on the finish)! A MAC shadow only has about .05 oz. They're super affordable and there's absolutely no skimping on quality of the shadow. You're def. not settling and you won't find yourself saying "that's amazing for a $6 shadow" They are just incredible shadows, overall!

The eyeshadows and palettes are magnetic (super strong magnets) which is great because they'll never pop out and not so great because they usually never come out after you've placed them inside, haha. There are tons of tips and tricks to pop them out of the palette, the first being that you take the magnetic edge of the palette cover and place it on any of the corners of the eyeshadow pan. That method only works on one of my pans and not the others, so I had to go searching for other ways of taking them out. You'll see people telling you to use tweezers to sort of pull them out but honestly, all that ever did was break pieces of the eyeshadow and that drove me bananas. I have a baby Swiss Army knife that's thin enough for me to squeeze between the palette and pan edge to sort of pop it out. I find that's the best method if the magnets aren't working because your palette and shadows come out unharmed.

As for the finishes, the Shine finishes are the sheerer of the bunch but have such an amazing sheen to them. They're not glittery or shimmery, just ... shiny, haha. The Pearl finishes are the ones that have the buttery texture when you go to swatch them. Each of the shadows with the pearl finish that I own has a golden sheen sort of running through them - super rich color! I can't seem to find what DS stands for but these colors are matte shadows that have little shimmers running throughout. I was hoping they'd be matte when I bought them, but the shimmers make these colors GORGEOUS and better than what I wanted. Lastly, the Matte finish is the most self-explanatory - they are matte, but they're not chalky or powdery - like I said before, super rich in texture and pigmentation!

PHEW, that's one heck of a review, huh? I pretty much raved about all the shadows in general so I won't go in too much on the colors I have. I've included the numbers and swatches for all them anyway, and the swatches seriously speak for themselves! I've never had such glorious swatches! (click on the picture to get a closer look) I'm always so thoroughly impressed with INGLOT eyeshadows and the fun I have with the freedom system that I'm always excited to get more! You can find INGLOT eyeshadows on their website inglotusa.com or check to see if there's a store near you. If anything you can pretty much always find them at an IMATS show!
What do you think about the INGLOT eyeshadows and their Freedom System?

Wishlist | A Day In NYC

Day In NYC Wishlist
Can you believe how long it's been since my last wishlist post? These used to be my thing. I was supposed to have a video up today but I sort of didn't feel like editing it/didn't know if I wanted to publish it at all. Instead I thought I'd give my blog an extra day of love this week and post a wishlist. This weekend is an exciting one because Andrea, the lovely blogger and YouTuber over at From Inside My Closet, is coming to NYC for a day of shopping, beauty talk, and just good ol' fashioned hanging out! It's going to be real fun finally 'meeting' her in 'real' life! There are loads of stores we want to hit up such as INGLOT, ELF, and LUSH, and I've managed to create a 'small' list ;)
  • INGLOT | Our first stop is going to be INGLOT and I absolutely love, love, love their Freedom System. I've always wanted to get myself a 5 pan palette because I love how long and sleek it looks. That's not a very good reason for wanting something is it? Haha. I don't know if I'll fill it right then and there but there are two types of colors I've been dying to get my hands on: a matte bright blue and matte bright yellow. I've always wanted to try Sugarpill makeup but haven't been wanting to buy it online so I'll be looking for colors similar to Mochi and Buttercupcake. I'd really love to fill this palette with 5 matte-bright colors but so far those are the only two colors I'm sure of!
  • E.L.F. | Oh, dear E.L.F. cosmetics. The brand of cheap cosmetics that are worth more than they are being sold for, apparently. I say apparently because I've never actually owned an ELF product but I've heard rave reviews for their blushes and products in general so when I found out that they opened a shop right next to St. Marks I was all over it! The fact that I managed to narrow down my list to only two blushes and bronzers is an amazing feat. There is so much to see and I'm afraid I may come out with more than just what I've put on this list. Peachy Keen and Mellow Mauve are on my list because these are two shades I don't have in my collection and at $3 a pop why not splurge and treat myself to two new blushes ;) Also, their Golden Bronzer has been on my list ever since I found out it was a dupe for Dior's Amber Diamond. I'll forever want Amber Diamond in it's amazing packaging but hey, what's $40 compared to $3?! Ugh, I don't know how I'll control myself!
  • Pink Lemonade Flower Crown | That's what I've chosen to name this style of headband with the pink, yellow, and white colored flowers. Doesn't it remind you of pink lemonade? Haha! I have been on a floral headband kick for about two weeks now and finally got my hands on some at Forever21 which you can see in this haul right here. So the floral headband to the left is from Urban Outfitter's and costs $20 and the one to the left is from Forever21 costs $4.80. The reason I have both on this list is because if I can't find the pink lemonade headband from Forever21 (it wasn't at the one I went to) I'll most likely get the one from Urban Outfitter's. The Urban Outfitter's one is gorgeous and probably a little sturdier so I won't mind paying the price for such a nice headband. Call me crazy, I won't mind :)
Hopefully I'm a good little beauty blogger and stick to this list of lovely things, but knowing me, the beauty blogger who failed her spending ban, I might make a few cheeky purchases along the road (;

Haul | #IMATSNYC

As many of you lovely readers know, last weekend I went to this magical event called IMATS. I talk about my experience in this post right here so if you want to see how I liked it (LOVED it) and some snaps from the event itself. Today's post is all about my haul and I have to say it's a pretty impressive and exciting haul; my best one yet! For some reason there was so much more to find at this year's IMATS or maybe I was just more open to trying new brands because I came away with a hefty haul (hefty, hefty, hefty!) With not much else to say, here's what I got from IMATS!
  • INGLOT | I got a two-pan eye shadow palette and two eyeshadows to put in it. The coral/orange shade is 407 and the deep plum/purple is 446. I thought these colors would look really nice together in an eye look for a summer night and if not, they're totally gorgeous on their own!
  • Hakuhodo | I couldn't resist leaving this booth without something. These are the softest brushes that I've ever touched and I'm really happy my mom was generous enough buy me a blush brush (I don't have any, gasp*) and one from Hakuhodo no less! I still don't have the cajones to use it. It's too awesome!
  • Morphe | Funnily enough I didn't get any brushes at Morphe, although I should have because I heard they were seriously cheap. No, I ended up getting make up removing wipes that smell like apricots. Boy, oh boy, they really do smell like apricots! They'll be fun "summer" wipes, haha!
  • Lit Cosmetics | I'm going to curse right now. I lost my shit at this booth. All the glitters were just so overwhelmingly beautiful! I was pretty sure I was only going to get one glitter at this booth but no. I walked away with a Lit Kit (came with two brushes, a huge fan, a duster, and liquid glitter base) and SIX, yes, SIX glitters! I would have walked away with more but I need something to look forward to buying next year, haha! The colors I ended up getting were Margarita, Nightlife, California Soul, Peacock, Cowgirl, and Soul Sister. You can see the colors more clearly in my video below!
  • Jesse's Girl Cosmetics | I really wanted to get nail polishes at this booth to stock my personal collection with colors I didn't already have but I felt guilty after getting a Hakuhodo brush and then SIX glitters. So I ended up getting 3 nail polishes instead of my intended 6. The colors are Mermaids Tale, Oh Em Gee, and Cupcakes & Castles.
  • Hawaiin Moon Aloe | I left this product out of my video because I rambled on and on about it in a way that was un-editable. Basically this is a cream that is 100% aloe that's also paraben free and free of any fancy minerals and oils. It's meant to be used as a hand, body, and face cream to really rejuvenate the skin and get the circulation going. It's amazing stuff and my new moisturizer! I had a severe reaction from a facial I got earlier that week and it managed to clear all my spots in a 48 hours. To say I am impressed would be an understatement! This big bottle is going to last m a very long time!
  • Ardell | The Ardell booth was the scariest of them all but I did manage to get the lashes I wanted. One of the pairs was for my mom, another for my sister and the last two were for me. The ones I chose were a pair called 'Romantic' that has crisscrossed lashes and little dabs of glitter on them (of course) and then this really beautiful pair called, well, 'Beautiful' that had lashes of different sizes (they look like little empire state buildings) and then two sets of three-triangle rhinestones on each corner. I really want to wear these to Disney World because they remind me of Mickey Mouse!
  • Alcone | At the Alcone booth I was hoping to get a Beauty Blender but they were sold out. I ended up just getting a Large Black Z-Palette so my depotted Urban Decay 15th Anniversary shadows finally have somewhere to go (they've been sort of laying around since I depotted them, haha!)

So that's all I got at IMATS NYC this year! I'm really pleased with every single thing I got and that I finally hauled and share with you all because it means I can go play with them now! I'm already looking forward to next year and if next year's haul is half as good as this one I'll be a delighted peach! Reviews of all these products will be coming soon so make sure to stay tuned for those!

Have a great weekend!

OOTD & EOTD: Independence Day!

Happy (belated) Independence to you all! I spent the entire day with Mihai just eating BBQ food and then walking on the boardwalk. Seriously, we spent about 5 hours on the boardwalk and then found out that there were not going to be any fireworks on that beach. How depressing is that? No fireworks on the 4th of July?! We started walking back to my house and watched random fireworks that we could see from where we were. It was really beautiful to just look out into the horizon and see fireworks going off everywhere! Since I couldn't honor the 4th yesterday I shall do so today by sharing with you guys my outfit and eye look! This year I was feeling really patriotic and it translated quite well into my entire outfit and make up look!
