LUSH Rose Jam Shower Gel

If you take a peek into my shower, hiding within the depths of my shower caddy compartments is LUSH's Rose Jam shower gel. It has the most glorious, sweet smelling scent that I ever did smell. My nose is just enchanted by it's floral yet delicious and decadent scent. Rose Jam is the perfect name for such a beauty of a product that's made up of argan oil, goji berries, and vanilla pod. I'm absolutely in love with this scent and it has to be there in the tops along with Twilight. LUSH does this scent in a bubbleroon and body conditioner, though one doesn't produce nearly enough bubbles while the other is a bit out of my price range.

Regardless, this rosy and yet lemony scent is absolutely so unique. It was so popular that LUSH brought out the shower gel version during the 2013 holiday season, which means, yes, it was limited edition. It also means that I've been using this 3.3 fl. oz. quite sparingly until recently. I genuinely hope that LUSH considers bringing it back again for the 2014 holiday line up for products. If they do, I highly suggest you nab a small bottle. You'll love the scent, I'm almost sure of it, and on the off chance you don't, I accept Rose Jam donations ;) Rose Jam shower gel not only smells divine but is also moisturizing and leaves the skin feeling soft, clean, yet not tight. Best part is that the scent lingers for ages after you've washed up, which I LOVE! (I've taken a shower about two hours ago and, oh my goodness, I still smell it *big sniff*)

I genuinely made this post to share one of my absolute favorite shower products as of late even though it'd be a tad difficult to get your hands on and to also slightly and subtly beg LUSH to make some batches of it for the holiday season. I can promise I'll make it worth their while by snatching up the 16.9 fl. oz. bottle! Mermaid's honor ;)

Have you tried Rose Jam?
Does it tickle your senses?
Let's hope LUSH hears my sweet smelling prayers!

BLOG SALE

Ah, blog sales. Where one blogger's trash becomes another's treasure. Well, that's not the case today with this blog sale because all the products here are ones I absolutely adore! Recently I've had a look at my credit card bill and it's not the most glorious looking of numbers. One of my resolutions for 2014 was to get my credit card bill down to $0 and then stop using it entirely. Spending money I don't have is far too easy, as it turns out. So in attempt to make this number go down (as my bi-weekly paycheck isn't cutting it at the moment) I've had a look through my make up stash and found some products I think some of you lovelies would love to get your hands on!

Blog Sale Rules

Big Hair Calls for 'BIG' Shampoo

So two things are happening. First, I'm going to try to come up with more clever titles for my posts. They entertain me and hopefully they entertain you, too! Second, this week on the blog we're going to be talking all about hair! Every post this week will have to do with some of my favorite hair care products that help my dry, curly/wavy, and frizzy hair stay tangle-free, (relatively) frizz-free, and manageable! Today I'm going to be talking about my favorite volumizing shampoo that gives me country-girl lift (well, almost), and that is LUSH's BIG shampoo. BIG isn't your typical shampoo, as you can tell just by looking at it - it comes in LUSH's infamous black pots, instead of a bottle! The consistency is also different than something you may be used to. It's a goopy consistency with a watered down oatmeal sort of texture (yeah, just scroll down to the picture, haha!) and it smells really good; sweet, but not like candy! It's 11.4 oz. of shampoo for $26.95 (it was a bit cheaper when I bought this pot, dang you for constantly raising your prices LUSH!) It's a bit pricy but this pot has lasted me for a very long time!

This shampoo is filled with natural ingredients meant to give boost and shine to your locks, while also nourishing them. It's packed with sea salt (over half of it is just that!) which stimulates your scalp and makes your roots stand tall. There are citrus juices that give your hair a boost of shine, as well as, seaweed, extra virgin coconut oil, and avocado butter to leave your hair nice and soft.

So how exactly does it fair? With all that sea salt you'd expect your hair to be stripped clean and leave your hair bone dry, but because of all those oils and butters it doesn't! When I use this shampoo my hair gets that little bit of oomph. The worst thing a curly haired girl can have is flat hair, because then you get what I like to call 'triangle hair'. BIG give my roots that natural added lift so my hair doesn't lay flat on my face. It also leaves my hair nice and soft, as long as I don't put too much on my ends! As for shine, now that my natural wheat-blonde colored hair is growing back I don't notice the shine and luster as much, but when my hair was henna-ed red, it was shining for days! It made my hair more vibrant, which is strange since if you have colored hair this shampoo is known to strip the color. I think the henna just adhered a little too well to my hair, haha, and refused to be washed away!

I use this maybe once a week, taking out a little scoop and concentrating it on my scalp - overusing can leave your hair super dry and tangled, so be careful how often you use it! This shampoo is an absolute must to use in my hair when I know I'm going to straighten it because I flat iron it to be pin straight, so it's great to have that lift. Curly or straight, I don't think anyone likes when their hair just sits around the face with no pizazz. Would I recommend it? Most def. if you're looking for a product that will give your hair that little bit of extra personality it needs! I'd be cautious if your hair tends to be on the drier side, but in moderation, it shouldn't dry out your hair at all! It's like a party for you scalp!
What do you think of BIG? What's your favorite volumizing shampoo?

Collective Mini Haul | LUSH & Drugstore

Does anyone else do this? You tell yourself not to spend money on bits and pieces you know you don't need (in my case cosmetics!) and you stick with it for a while. Then you find yourself buying one bit here, a bob there, and a piece here; you didn't buy them all in one go so it makes it okay! Or does it, because this sort of mentality has resulted in this baby haul!? These are things that if I bought in one go I'd feel super guilty buying but having bought them spaced out on separate occasions makes me sort of justify it? Does anyone else find themselves ever doing this? Okay, I know, I know get on with the haul!

Here we have a collective haul, a small one, but still loads to share! I picked up these products in the last two weeks and thought I'd share them with you! I am going to be doing a review on each of these items so look out for those sometime soon!
  • Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Vivid Rose & Shocking Coral ($7.49) | I saw these lipsticks on someone's blog, I can't remember whose, and I was literally (okay, not literally) blown away by the brightness of these lipsticks! I think there are 8 or 10 colors in the whole range and they all just POP! I'm a girl who shy's away from the neutral and nude lippies so I was all over these. I ran to maybe 10 different drugstores before I found one that had the colors I wanted. I was going to pick up a third color but managed to have (some) restraint.
  • LUSH Cosmetics The Brightside Bubble Bar ($8.95) | LUSH is the best. I had fallen out of lust with them for a while but I think I'm swinging right back to loving them. When I saw their Easter collection had come out I knew I would have to pop in and touch everything, haha! I told myself to just get one thing because I still have loads of bath products from their Holiday collection. The Brightside bubble bar smells AMAZING and the colors are just WOW! It instantly caught my eye and seeing as how it was a "big" bubble bar, I knew it was the one item I had to have! (I dug through all of them until I found the biggest chunk! woops)
  • Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss ($4.29) | Okay, bloggers. I heard your raves and caved. Fingers crossed this'll be a nice one! Although I've heard the scent alone makes bloggers go ga-ga! :)
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent ($6.19) | You may recall me raving about wanting the NARS Light Reflecting Powder here. Welp, my MAC MSF Natural ran out before I  got a chance to get my coupon and but said NARS powder. I've always wanted to try the Stay Matte powder and don't want to spend money on a high end powder just yet so it's a win-win! Really excited to try it out as I've heard great things!
What have you hauled recently?

Haul | Bath & Body Works and LUSH

Happy Monday! I have an itty bitty collective haul to share with you all that consists of super colorful and super spring smelling products! Bath & Body Works was having their 2 for $22 (I miss the $20, seemed like a better deal) and after having to stand in front of the candles for 5 straight hours and shoving them in people's noses, I fell in love with some of the scents. So one day my dad took my sister and I to the mall and I begged and pleaded to let me just get two candles! Here's what I got:
  • Palm Beach Cooler | I love when Bath & Body Works puts out cocktail scented candles. I personally think they are the best. I liked Pink Sangria and Island Margarita, but my sister and I wanted to get a scent we both liked and that was Palm Beach Cooler. It's has notes of berries and grapefruit, but ultimately smells like a watermelon lollipop!
  • Oceanside | I love the beach. I love the ocean. So I love everything about this candle. It smells like the ocean air. I don't know how else to describe it, really. Just picture your perfect beach day with the sun shining, a tiny breeze, and THAT'S how the air smells (not helpful, I know!)
Even though I got a ton of LUSH over the holidays I couldn't resist popping over for the Valentine's Day products because they are consistently my favorite! I look forward to them every year and if they ever discontinue these two I will have to threaten them to bring it back write a strongly worded letter! So here's what I got:

  • The Ex-Factor | The concept of this little guy is brilliant beyond comprehension. They created this blue gingerbread looking man with a teeny pink heart and made him a fizzy so that you could slowly and surely use him as voodoo ritual. Limb by limb, sink this guy into the bath and watch as they dissolve into nothingness. It's really funny and kind of sad cause of that cute wittle smile! I feel sort of bad when I dissolve him ): I usually get two of these but decided to be good!
  • Magic Mushroom | I'm never good with these guys. I always buy at least two and I call that being responsible. This is my favorite bubble bar from LUSH! It smells of strawberries and cream and just creates the biggest bubbles with loveliest pinky/red bath water. I always seem to sit in the bath a tad bit longer when using this guy!
That's the end of my haul. I'd love to know if you guys snagged any of the new tropical Bath & Body Works scents or at least had a chance to sniff them out! Also, if you got anything from the LUSH Valentine's Day products. They had a really lovely smelling massage bar that I passed up on but I can't stop thinking about it, haha! And I may need more Magic Mushrooms! Ahhh, the curse and pull of LUSH and shopping!

LUSH | Popcorn Lip Scrub

I cannot stop thinking about this spectacular scrub. I don't even know how to review it for you all calmly and coherently. I want to shout from the roof tops with millions of caps letters and exclamation points! LUSH has really nailed this scrub on the head with it's deliciousness. Popcorn is the holiday lip scrub that LUSH Cosmetics has brought out and it is phenomenal! It smells and tastes like a carnival! Not the gross animal stink but the sweet smells of kettle cooked popcorn! On the lips the scrub is like all their other scrubs; scrubby, effective, and softening but once licked off you can't even began to function afterwards. The sweet and salty taste in your mouth is completely reminiscent of kettle cooked popcorn! Don't think movie theatre popcorn as that is FAR from what this is! It's amazing and I'm completely obsessed! I have a hard time remembering to exfoliate my lips every night but this makes me want to exfoliate and it's something I look forward to now. I'll leave you with this last bit...

GET OFF YOUR TOOCUS AND BUY THIS MAGICAL TREAT!

You'll regret it way more if you don't! It's limited edition so you don't have forever to think about! A LUSH masterpiece!

A Spook-tacular Pumpkin Soap | LUSH Cosmetics

I have a very fond memory attached to this gem. It was a year ago that I had just finished my culture hour with LUSH Cosmetics and seconds later was offered a job to work as a seasonal hire. As I was filling out paperwork a kind, new co worker extended her discount to me as I picked up 3, count 'em THREE pumpkin soaps. I walked out of the store with delicious smelling soap and my spirits held high. I feel a surge of happiness every time I see this soap and it makes me so joyful when I use it. Pumpkin Soap comes out during the Halloween Season and this year it's coming out today, October 13th, 2012. I'm going to need to restrain myself from buying the lot! Pumpkin Soap is absolutely adorable with it's pumpkin shape and jolly jack o' lantern carved face. Despite the jagged mouth, it still looks like it's smiling at you! The scent of the soap encompasses the smell of pumpkin and halloween; the sweet wafts of spice and cinnamon. It's so much fun to use this in the shower. You turn all yellow (doesn't stain, I promise!) and your skin feels ever so moisturized with the scent lingering long after you shower! I would say this is a LUSH soap you need to have tried/have multiples of. It goes fast, and I mean super fast! I remember I came back a day later for more (I had given one of my three to my other boss as a gift for being so supportive) and they were all gone, and no more were coming!

Stop by your local LUSH or call them and see if they've got the beauty in their store today! If they do, run, run and don't stop for anyone, Charlie! 10 Pumpkin Soaps for you if you get the reference!! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Fragrance Review: LUSH's 25:43

Let's play the game Never Have I Ever! Alright, let's go... Never have I ever been so in love with a perfume. Well that's not true. I've been in love with many. So let's just say this is at the tippity top of the list of fragrances that I love! It is LUSH Cosmetic's 25:43 perfume that came out for their Valentine's Day Holiday line this past year. It's a very peculiar scent. You'll sniff it once and raise an eyebrow, sniff it once more and fall in love. Which is quite funny because this scent was created for Mark Constantine's (one of the founders of LUSH) son Simon's wedding day. The scent is sweet and then zesty. I know, trying to get your nose to even comprehend both smells at once is a bit of a stretch. Usually tonka is a smell I am in love with and this, no surprise, is a note in the perfume. The LUSH website states that there's also notes of lemongrass, vanilla, and ylang ylang to make it light and clean! It's a very personal sort of scent. It'll depend on your wittle nostrils as to wether or not you'll like this scent. I keep it in my bag all the time and spray every day when I feel I need a pick me up smell! This was supposed to be a limited edition scent but somehow it's still on the website and in stores, so who knows? If I've managed to intrigue you then scurry along to your LUSH and take a whiff!

If you've ever taken a sniff of this perfume, what did you think? I've known people to either love it or hate it. Would love to hear your opinions! And also, what are you favorite perfumes? Aside from this one I love Escada Taj Sunset but I can't find it anywhere. BOO!

Skincare Routine!

I've been waiting a very long time to write up this post! Ever since my first blog post I dreamt of the day I'd be able to write up a skincare routine. I've never been happy with my skincare routines in the past. I didn't feel they were effective enough to share. I never noticed any brightening, or diminishing black heads and acne. It wasn't worth sharing if I couldn't recommend the product to be helpful for others as well as myself. I'm super happy to say that I've finally found a skincare routine that works for me quite well that I've actually noticed my skin getting better! Two things to note before I begin: 1. I have combination skin, closer to dry skin and 2. I only ever wash my face at night. It's only at night, but every night. So without further ado, here's what I use to make my skin all nice and spiffy!

LUSH Ocean Salt Cleanser | My face loves to be scrubbed and exfoliated. If my cleanser isn't scrubbing away and leaving scratches, my face is not liking it and it won't be effective. LUSH creates the perfect cleanser for me. There's avocado and coconut in it which hydrates your skin. The lime and vodka (yes, vodka!) work as an antibacterial to clear up blackheads, pores, and blemishes. The sea salt, which is the majority of it, scrubs away to give your face a really deep clean and wash away all the dirt. It's one of their best sellers which makes sense considering how amazing it is! Now, you're not supposed to use this every day and I can just hear every Lushie gasp in horror after I say this; I use it every night. The sea salt is very drying for the face which is why it's not recommend for every day use but my face loves this stuff and just stays hydrated, smooth and clean! I haven't felt it lose more moisture!

LUSH Eau Roma Water | I like to use toners to wipe away any residual cleanser that I didn't fully wash off of my face. I dampen a small cotton ball and then wipe at my face. Sometimes I'll spray some toner on my face if I feel I need to be extra clean. This toner in particular is really lovely because it's suited for drier skin which is why I think I don't have any problems with using Ocean Salt every night. The fresh rose petals infused in this toner give a tad more hydration as well as reduce some of the redness on my face.

LUSH Imperialis Moisturizer | This moisturizer is geared for combo skin. I can't quite remember what's in this but whatever it is works brilliantly. I never have that overly greasy feeling to my skin and it sinks in super fast. It's designed in a way that allows the drier areas of your skin to produce more natural oils and for more oily areas to not produce as much oils. It's a great balancing moisturizer and when I wake up in the morning it leaves my face looking bright!

LUSH Mint Julips Sugar Scrub & C.O. Bigelow Lavandar Salve | Whilst I wait for my moisturizer to sink in I'll sometimes (other times I forget or am just too lazy) give my lips attention. I'll scrub away the dead skin with the Mint Julips lip scrub and then apply a nice hydrating lip balm. I love the C.O. Bigelow Salves because 8 hours later, rolling around in my bed, they still stay hydrated when I wake up!

Mario Badescu Drying Cream | I don't know what's in this magical cream and frankly I don't care. It's a miracle worker and probably the sole reason for sharing my skincare routine. This cream is meant for applying on problem areas such as white heads which I had a lot on my chin and forehead. Before this I was calling my forehead a mountainous region. Well that region no longer exists because of this cream! I only have small sample of it and when I run out and get the full size pot I will do a more in depth review on this. For now, just take my word that this guy just completely turned my skin around.

So that's it for my skincare routine! It's mostly LUSH centered but I'm glad I've ventured into other brands as they seem to be working wonders! I forgot to mention that I like to use the Caudalie Beauty Elixir before my moisturizer sometimes to refreshen and help my moisturizer sink in faster! It's fairly new to my routine so we'll see how it holds up with the chosen kings, haha!

Now I'd love to hear about your skincare routines! What's your holy grail skincare product? Do share!

... And Getting Caught In The Rain | Bath Cocktail (2/2)

Hello everyone! Today I bring you Part 2 of my bath cocktail series! If you'd like to see part (1/2) click right here! My first cocktail was the sunny side of the summer time! With all the fruity and citrusy notes in the bath. This one, however, is for when the sun is hidden behind a cloak of clouds and the summer rain is softly tapping against your window or furiously bashing on them as it did here yesterday! Here's what you'll need:
  • 1 or 1/2 of a LUSH Big Blue bath bomb
  • 1 or 1/2 of a LUSH Floating Island bath melt
This bath cocktail is for those who are in the mood for a fresher, and a tad sweet floral scent. The Big Blue bath bomb contains lavender which is amazingly wonderful for trying to relax and just drift away. There's also seaweed which is wonderful for softening your skin. Now the Floating Island bath melt adds notes of sandalwood and vanilla to keep you relaxed. Bath melts also have loads of cocoa butter which adds another note of sweetness as well as makes your skin so very moisturized while you bathe! Just imagine the smell of summer rain, the softness of it all and the sweet, wet smell of humidity on the rise. While the weather isn't ideal, creating it into a bath is absolutely perfect. So perfect I've used this cocktail twice already! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sweet smell of rain!

If You Like Pina Coladas ... | Bath Cocktail (1/2)

Welcome to part 1 of my Summer Bath Cocktails series! There will only be two parts (both awesome!) but series just makes it sound all the funner! I know bath's are usually associated for the winter time when it's frigid cold outside and all you want to do it relax in steaming hot water and a glass of wine. Well I say, why can't you bathe in the summer as well? Just turn down the water temperature and use some summer scented products!

The first bath cocktail I bring to you smell of delightful pineapple, coconut, and citrus! Just imagine it's your little escape from the heat and you're relaxing in a nice resort with a fruity drink in hand. Only you're sitting in the fruity drink! Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 whole LUSH Yuzu & Cocoa bubbleroon
  • 1 whole LUSH Dragon's Egg bath bomb
The Yuzu & Cocoa bubbleroon itself smells like a sweet and fruity drink. To be specific, a delicious Pina Colada (my favorite!). On it's own it can be a tad sweet, so chuck in a whole Dragon's Egg to mix a zesty citrus into the mix. The smell is divine! The bath water turns an orangey-gold with shimmer from the Dragon'es Egg (don't worry, it all goes down the drain, no need for clean up!) You really feel like you're bathing at a tropical island with the smell of all these tropical scents wafting in the bathroom! A definite new favorite cocktail for the summertime!

Review: LUSH Ice Blue Soap

LUSH soaps hold a really special place in my heart. I don't particularly enjoy solid bars of soap because I do feel like they sometimes leave my skin feeling dry. Not just LUSH soaps, most in general. But I just love how exciting it is to hold a specially cut chunk of soap. And I can either splurge (like I did on this one) or get a smaller more humble chunk. Yes, I just referred to soap as humble.
Today's LUSH soap is Ice Blue. A frosty blue soap that smells like peppermint and spearmint and just plain delicious mint! It's great for clearing up the senses, haha! This was one of the first soaps I ever bought from LUSH and I was so excited because I got to take it on vacation with me. After spending hours laying on the beach and playing in the sand this soap just refreshes you and makes you feel squeaky clean! I'm going to take a decent size of this to Alaska to keep even cooler than I will probably be! It does leave a somewhat dragging feeling after I use it which is not desired. I do know that LUSH has this same scent in a shower gel form called Freeze. If I wasn't on a no spending challenge I would probably be ordering it right now!

Do you lovelies prefer bar of soap or shower gel? I think it's interesting to see what people prefer better! What was your first LUSH soap or which would you love to try?

LUSH Emotional Brilliance | My Experience + Bubbly Review

As many of your already know LUSH Cosmetics globally launched a brand new make up line called Emotional Brilliance this past Saturday. Like many kooky Lushies I ran to my local store's launch party! There are four LUSH stores in NYC but I went to the one in Union Square out of favoritism and convenience (I was meeting friend's later!) I walked towards the shop and saw the awesome sign that you can see in the left picture above. It only made me that more excited to walk in! There was a decent amount of people in the shop already browsing, playing with the line, and getting a reading. You had to  put your name on a list and wait for a color reading which wasn't all too bad. I had a really lovely chat with one of the sales asscoiates there who helped me pick out bath products for an awesome two part series I have coming up (!!!)

The time flew by and I was finally able to sit down at the infamous color wheel! It was so COOL and not to mention colorful! The girl doing my reading was super funny and made it very entertaining. She told me to clear my mind and forget everything as she spun the wheel and created crazy dry ice fog over the wheel! (That was probably my favorite part) The three colors you chose all signified something and the order you chose them was important as well. Here were mine!
  • 1st Color | Strength/Weakness : Calm
  • 2nd Color | What Your Soul is Craving : Bubbly (haha, we interpreted this as my soul needed a drink ;) )
  • 3rd Color | What You Aspire To Have : Ambition
I thought all those were pretty spot on! Although I could have just applied any part of my life to any of the 27 or 30 colors! It was a really fun experience and I'm a fan of what some might call "gimmicky color read" If I'm honest, that's what truly drew me to the line in the first place! I was walked over to the Emotional Brilliance wall and was shown all my colors and told I could play with all of them if I truly wished. I ended up only getting Bubbly as it was my absolute favorite out of the bunch (and I was short on funds :( )

Bubbly. Perhaps the most fitting color I could have chosen! Bubbly is a lip color (but can be used as a cheek tint or anywhere you desire!) It was $22.95 for this wittle bottle which made me cringe but I knew I couldn't leave without getting something! I love the packaging of it. I think the little glass vile is a cute and creative idea! I also like the small tag that proudly displays the color!
The applicator is a very short doe foot applicator. I don't think it gets all the way down to the bottom which is a shame because there will be a portion of the products you won't be able to reach. I have to dip the wand down and out about two times before much product comes out onto the wand. More seems to get on the back of the applicator than the slant of it.
I added two swatches above as they were in two different lightings and that ultimately dictates how the color shows up. It's a lovely bubbly pink color with really subtle gold shimmers. It has a sort of frost finish to it. The color lasts a long while. I'd say maybe 3 hours? It takes a few sweeps back and forth to get a nice color cover on the lips.

So what's my verdict? If I have to be 100% honest I'm not really itching to grab any more from the rest of the line. I am very happy with the one thing I did get but it's pretty pricey for just a so-so product. I'm not completely smitten with it. The color does look super lovely but I think I could have found the same color from a different brand with a better application and pigmentation. Not hating it on but I'm just a tad underwhelmed!

Did you guys go to your store's launch party? What are your opinions on the new line?

LUSH Emotional Brilliance: My Thoughts Summed Up

LUSH Cosmetics is coming out with Emotional Brilliance this Saturday, July 21, 2012! It's such an exciting time for Lushies new and old because it's a make-up line! The basis of this make up line is that the make up you choose will be based on your mood. There will be a color wheel that you spin and then you are asked to pick the first three colors that stand out to you! I don't want to give out too many details that I've read about because I'm not sure exactly how it all works! All I know is that I will be there this Saturday buying up the store! My B.I.F. (Best Internet Friend) Julia, author of the blog LushiesUnite on tumblr which is by far the most brilliant LUSH blog you will ever come across, posted this set of GIFs to properly, and to a T, describe what every Lushie felt and is feeling about Emotional Brilliance!

Enjoy & make sure to check out her blog! :) And here is the link to her direct post.
